NPS Announces Selection of New Chief of Commercial Services

The National Park Service, Business Services Directorate is pleased to announce the selection of Brian Borda as the new Chief of Commercial Services for the National Park Service. As the Chief of Commercial Services, Brian will oversee the Concessions, Leasing and Commercial Use Authorization programs.

Brian comes to the NPS from the Department of Defense where he serves as the Director of the Healthy Base Initiative, a project designed to improve the health and wellness of active duty service members through food and beverage, lodging, recreation, retail and grocery and other quality of life activities and facilities.

In his 25 years managing hospitality and recreation services for the Defense Department, Brian has overseen a diverse range of activities such as restaurants, hotels, sports and outdoor adventure programs, campgrounds, golf courses, and marinas. Brian began his career as the general manager of a 286-room hotel on Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. Since then he has held hospitality and recreation management positions of increasing responsibility, including four years as the Chief, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Services for Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe where he oversaw hospitality and recreation facilities at 151 installations throughout Europe.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University, a Master of Arts in Business Management from Webster University and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College.

Brian is expected to report to his new assignment in December. The NPS will arrange meetings for concessioner’s and other interested parties beginning in mid-January.
